Our history

The Latin African Chamber (CLAF) was born in 2024, the result of the innovative vision of two Colombian entrepreneurs. These visionaries, throughout their careers, have identified and worked on the many opportunities and striking similarities that unite the Latin American continent with Africa. The spark that ignited the creation of CLAF came during their last commercial expedition, an eye-opening trip that led them to explore the dynamic markets of Kenya and Egypt.

During this expedition, CLAF's founders had the invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves in the business ecosystem of these two powerful African economies. Through official visits and strategic meetings with local entrepreneurs, they were able to build a network of contacts and knowledge that would lay the foundation for their ambitious project.

Angélica Herrera Muñoz, one of the founders, brings to CLAF her vast experience as a lecturer, writer and teacher specialized in internationalization processes. Her trajectory includes the successful direction of business missions throughout the five continents, as well as collaborations with renowned institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Seguros Bolivar, ProColombia, various embassies and Latin American universities. The scope of her work is truly global, having impacted more than 1,980,000 people with her lectures and internationalization strategies in countries such as Italy, the Arab Emirates, Spain and throughout Latin America. In addition, Angélica is the author of three e-books that have achieved bestseller status on the Amazon platform.

Sebastián Galindo Cantor perfectly complements this vision with his experience as a consultant and researcher in customs and trade policy. His career has been developed in prestigious consulting firms, where he has played a crucial role in structuring business models for cross-border operations. Recognition of his expertise is reflected in his participation as a speaker at World Customs Organization (WCO) and World Trade Organization (WTO) events. Sebastian's interest in the African continent dates back to 2020, when he organized the first Business Summit in Africa, a pioneering event that featured speakers from Kenya, the United States, Peru and Mexico.

The trip that consolidated CLAF's vision took place in December 2023. During this expedition, Angelica and Sebastian held crucial meetings with the Colombian embassies in Kenya and Egypt. They also had the opportunity to establish direct contact with the Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and its main representatives. In Egypt, their agenda included a visit to the Food Africa trade fair and meetings with representatives of the country's Ministry of Trade.

These experiences and connections forged during years of individual work and culminated in this transformative journey, led Angélica and Sebastián to join forces and found CLAF in 2024. Its mission is clear: to be the bridge that unites the potentials of Latin America and Africa, facilitating and enhancing commercial, cultural and knowledge relations between both regions. CLAF is born as a platform for the exchange of ideas, business collaboration and mutual growth, leveraging the unique strengths of both continents to foster sustainable and prosperous development.
